Two local players named to all-state basketball squad

Recently, CalHiSports.com selected its all-state teams for each California Interscholastic Federation division and two area girls wound up on the roster: Kelly Winther, a senior at Royal and Michelle Clark, a sophomore at Oaks Christian.

Winther, a shooting guard, led Royal to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section’s Div IA playoffs, averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists and 4.3 steals this season.

Clark, a 5-foot-7 guard, led the Lions in scoring (16.0) and assists this season (4.7 per game). She registered 32 points in Oaks Christian’s 76-70 semifinals loss to Winward.
