Was city hypocritical about development?

Was city hypocritical about development?

Shame on the Calabasas City Council and Calabasas Planning Commission. After spending millions of taxpayer dollars fighting Ahmanson Ranch, which wasn’t even inside the city limits, the city’s two main legislative bodies have sanctioned an absolute and total development mess on Las Virgenes Road just south of Agoura Road.

For almost two years, a housing development on the steep slopes across the Albertson’s shopping center has been floundering due to grading issues. A moron could have told you the fragile hillsides were susceptible to failure, yet the council approved the project anyway.

For over 10 years we’ve listened to the city council brag at every meeting about what good stewards they are when it comes to the environment, now this nightmare comes along. What happened? How could the city in its infinite wisdom approve of such a rape to the environment?

Out-of-town visitors traveling to the beach, or local residents just trying to get to their homes, must wait on Las Virgenes Road constantly while crews work to repair the broken hillsides. The dirt and the mud are everywhere, the deep potholes are a danger to traffic. I also understand that officials from nearby Indian Hills High School have complained about the problem.

The Las Virgenes Road grading mess has gone on for months and months. When will it stop? We demand some answers.
