Fair will present tips against fraud

"How to Protect Yourself Against Fraud and Abuse, a Senior Action Fair" will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tues., May 17, at the New Jewish Community Center at Milken, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. The fair is sponsored by WISE Senior Services, the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging, the County of Los Angeles Area Agency on Aging and the New Jewish Community Center at Milken.

The event is free and includes complimentary continental breakfast and lunch. Reservations are required by Tues., May 10. For reservations call Lauren Velazquez at (310) 394-9871, ext. 261.

The Senior Action Fair seeks to empower seniors to take action to protect their homes, health, money and quality of life. Local senior support organizations from across Southern California will provide information about the latest scams targeting seniors, including auto and home repair rip-offs, identity theft, investment scams and credit card fraud.

Exhibitors at the fair include the West Valley Community Police Department, FBI, United States Postal Inspectors, Federal Trade Commission, California Department of Insurance and Department of Consumer Affairs.
