An Eagle Court of Honor on Sat., April 23 at Agoura Bible Fellowship in Agoura Hills honored Scott Anderson, 18, Travis Maggini, 17 and Roy Sherman, 17, three Agoura High School students who received their Eagle awards together. Scoutmaster Geoff Gunn of Boy Scout Troop 127 presented the three Scouts with their awards.

Scott Anderson is the son of Michael and Grace Anderson of Agoura Hills. Scott wanted his Eagle project to benefit his high school. For his project, Scott led 55 volunteers who donated 455 hours landscaping a problem slope on the school’s grounds with the groundcover Vinca major and shrub Indian hawthorne.

Travis Maggini is the son of Alan and Merlene Maggini of Agoura Hills. For his Eagle project, Travis directed the excavation and replacement of a rundown fence at the entrance to Paramount Ranch. The project took three months to plan and 40 volunteers worked 436 hours to rebuild the fence for the National Park Service. Travis will graduate this June and in the fall will begin his studies at Brooks Institute of Photography as he pursues his goal of becoming a professional photographer.

Roy Sherman is the son of Michael and Linda Sherman of Agoura Hills. Roy’s Eagle project involved clearing part of a historic sports car racing track at Paramount Ranch for the National Park Service (NPS). The racetrack has been closed since 1957 and NPS wanted the racetrack to be in a condition to be accessible to park visitors.

The project took three months of planning and 235 hours to clear weeds, overhanging branches and invasive non-native star thistle along a 200-foot stretch of the racetrack.

In their years with Troop 127 Scott, Travis and Roy collectively earned close to 100 merit badges and served the troop in various responsible capacities. Additionally, the three participated in the troop’s many outdoor adventures.

Among those in attendance at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony were Mike Malone of the National Park Service; Larry Misel, principal of Agoura High School; and Ed Corridori, Mayor of Agoura Hills.
