One person can make a difference

I would like to thank The Acorn for the article acknowledging a fantastic person and long-time volunteer who lives in the city of Agoura Hills: Mr. Bob Hitner.

Bob is the gentleman who gives up his time and energy to keep the gateway of Liberty Canyon free of trash and debris. It seems that every Friday he is out there on the streets, freeway ramps, and underpass areas performing his weekly ritual.

I recently attended the Agoura Hills City Council meeting that recognized Bob and his ongoing efforts. Moreover, Assemblywoman Fran Pavely sent her representative Louise Rishoff to present a certificate of accomplishment to Bob as well.

I too wish to publicly thank Bob for his commitment to our community and encourage those who see him on Friday mornings to give a wave or thumbs-up as you pass him by.

Bob is an example of how volunteerism continues to work in our fast-paced society. And all residents should realize that one person can make a difference in the lives of those around us.
