Land purchased

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted to approve spending $500,000 toward the $1.5 million purchase of the 120-acre Sisson property on Calabasas Peak.

The site is a visual landmark known for its striking sandstone outcroppings, abundance of rare species, scenic vistas and ideal recreational opportunities, in the western Santa Monica Mountains.

The property is located off Stunt Road near Calabasas, about one mile east of Mulholland Highway. It connects two popular parks and protects a leg of the Calabasas/Cold Creek Trail and the Backbone Trail.

According to trust officials, the site is home to numerous rare animal and plant species and is a wintering site for ladybugs.
