Art contest celebrates
Asian-American
influences Art contest celebrates Asian-American influences Elementary school students in Los Angeles and Ventura counties are invited to enter the inaugural McDonald’s Asian Art Contest. The contest is sponsored by McDonald’s Operators’ Association of Southern California in conjunction with the Japanese American National Museum, Koreatown Youth and Community Center as well as the Search to Involve Filipino Americans. The contest encourages students to explore Asian-American culture, highlight how Asian Americans have contributed to California, and stimulate the imagination. A judges’ panel will select first- second- and third-place winners and five additional finalists in each grade category of 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6. The artwork will be displayed at the museum from May 18 to June 1. Entry forms have been mailed to elementary schools. All entries must be postmarked by April 11.
