Agoura High teacher in running for top award

Kristen Marsilio, a special education teacher at Agoura High School, is one of 10 nominees for "Educator of the Year" for Region 8 of the California League of High Schools. She has been an educator for six years, the last five as a special education teacher.

To be nominated, an educator must be a role model, demonstrate leadership, be a facilitator of change, an advocate of school reform, and be able to motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Marsilio will be recognized along with other nominees at the "Educator of the Year" dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Fri., March 11 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club, 431 W. 7th St., Los Angeles.
