Mayor says ‘learn the facts’

Mayor says ‘learn the facts’

A well-informed electorate is essential in a democracy. The misinformation about the Calabasas Civic Center and the Education Fund is a disservice to everyone, so I’d like to take this opportunity to set the record straight, and I invite everyone to check the facts.

First, the civic center project is on schedule and on budget, despite unfounded allegations to the contrary. As co-chair of the Civic Center Task Force for the past 18 months, I have worked tirelessly with the other members in the remarkable progress we have made to bring Calabasas one of the finest and most environmentally friendly civic centers in the world.

Second, I will not be deterred from protecting the children of our city. I will continue to fight for funding to be sent to LVUSD to improve our Calabasas schools. Because education is a top priority, I created the Education Fund to ensure that students receive the best education possible. The program has been a tremendous success and is one of the reasons that I have the endorsement of five present and past members of the LVUSD school board.

Finally, well-informed electorate is also essential for the cohesion of a community. We’re all neighbors, and most of us will still live here long after the election. We will need to work together. Our decisions can differ, but they should be based on truth, not on a puppetmaster’s orchestrated smear campaign. Calabasas itself loses when good people’s characters are assassinated in a take-no-prisoners spin-doctor game.

Please learn the facts.
