Candidate forum disappoints After attending the Candidate Forum sponsored by CPHA a few nights ago, it occurred to me that Calabasas residents, or at least those in the Park, were, at the very least, confused. The questions seemed to accuse the sitting council of everything except the famine in Ethiopia. In point of fact, however, they deserve praise for accomplishments beyond any reasonable expectations and our apologies for not being more involved. One would wonder what the source of such confusion was. Could it be that the questioners were not well informed? I don’t think so. They seemed to be aware of enough detail to make one think they were well-versed in the issues. Could it be that the questioners had an agenda involving the manipulation of public perception? I certainly hope this wasn’t the case. This was supposed to be a neutral forum. Maybe they picked up the wrong set of questions and were embarrassed to ask where the real questions were? I hope deep down in my heart that is what actually happened. I, for one, am very proud of our city and all that we have accomplished in the short time we have been in existence. I would like to thank the current city council and the past councils for all the effort they have expended on my behalf. I would also like to offer my sincere apology for what took place at the CPHA debate. I hope we can put a process in place that would result in more informative forums in the future.
