Musical variety show offers family fun

A musical variety show tailored for families featuring "Razzle-Bam-Boom," the duo of Mark Beckwith and Obediah Thomas, will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Fri., March 11 in the Scherr Forum Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Beckwith and Thomas combine humor, juggling, vocals, guitar, trumpet and percussion plus audience participation to craft a lively show that has been presented to schoolchildren throughout Southern California. Their theme will be "200 Years of American Music."

Tickets are $10 and are available by calling (805) 650-6735 or by visiting www.conejo.tec.ca. Tickets are not available at the Civic Arts Plaza box office. The concert is part of the Conejo Valley Children’s Concert Series presented by Conejo Valley Adult School.

At 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Thurs., March 24, the series will continue with Jim Gamble’s Marionettes in "Peter and the Wolf," presented in the same venue as above. The marionettes will bring the tale to life in an entertaining and educational way. The traditional story of the boy who outfoxes the wolf is updated with contemporary humor.

Tickets for "Peter and the Wolf" are $7 ($1 for children age one and under) and available by mail or, if available, at the door.
