Art through manipulation
MIRROR IMAGE-The photography works of artist Terese Pencak Schwartz are on display through April 9 at Artists Alley inside the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center. In the photo at left, Pencak captures a mirror on the move.
Is it a painting? It is a photo? Those are just some of the questions that admirers wonder while viewing the work of Terese Pencak Schwartz.
The Westlake Village artist’s career is gaining steam after a recent first-place photography win at the Thousand Oaks Annual Juried Show.
All works of the German-born artist start out as photographs which she digitally manipulates to look like paintings.
The former freelance journalist only recently began exhibiting her work. Her interest in photography began when she inherited her father’s old German single lens reflex camera.
Schwartz’s newest collection of works are being showcased through April 9 in Artists Alley at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center.
Hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
