Wanna-be voter supports Maurer As a British subject I am unfortunately not able to cast a ballot in the March 8 Calabasas election, but am inspired by one candidate for whom I would dearly love to vote. I would like to see a woman elected, one who has a vested interest in the lives of our children, who is informed on the issues and is well liked by her peers. She must be smart, insightful and bring solutions, not obstacles to the table. She must want to preserve what I love about Calabasas, it’s natural beauty and green hills. We are fortunate to have such a candidate in Mary Sue Maurer. Mary Sue’s track record for action has been impressive, from co-forming the Middle School Now effort, whereby our children are now the beneficiaries of a brand new middle school, to working on environmental issues with Assembly Member Fran Pavley. Last year she launched a Walk to School program, thus alleviating traffic problems and encouraging independence and civic responsibility in our kids. She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, both on the Calabasas Education Commission and as Vice President of Mulwood’s Homeowners Association. Mary Sue has a loving and supportive husband in Paul and three terrific sons, Martin, Derek and Neil. The loyalty of her friends is well deserved, we know she will work hard for us and we all would be honored to have her as a city councilwoman. On March 8 I urge those of you who think that the status quo is good enough, to take another look. Vote for Mary Sue Maurer, she has what it takes to make a difference and is the change that we need.
