Nader not really running in Calabasas

Nader not really running in Calabasas

With regard to the editorial cartoon in the Feb. 17 issue, I wish to pose some questions.

First, are the percentage figures shown for each electoral candidate the result of an official Acorn poll? If not, are they the opinion of The Acorn and therefore reflect the paper’s position on the eventual election result? Or, are these figures merely conjecture and are an element of a cartoon that has simply gone bad?

If the answer to these questions is not that The Acorn has conducted a poll, then I think some clarification is called for, as it is important that the electorate and the candidates are made aware that the figures depicted in Charloff’s cartoon are not an indication of the current status of the electoral challenge.

Additionally, if it is the case that these figures are not the result of a poll, then I believe The Acorn owes the electorate and the candidates an apology—for publishing a cartoon on its opinion page that may unduly mislead and influence voters and the outcome of the election.

Editor’s note: The Feb. 17 cartoon with a newscaster naming Ralph Nader as among the candidates getting votes in a preelection poll for the upcoming Calabasas City Council election was just that— a politcal cartoon. Sorry you missed the joke.
