Harrison, Devine show vision Harrison, Devine show vision After attending the last debate sponsored by the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation on Feb. 15, I came to the stunning realization that both Mayor Michael Harrison and Councilmember Lesley Devine faithfully exhibit command and political presence in their demeanor as well as fluent, spontaneous articulation of their passion to serve the citizens of Calabasas. They are true political servants in touch with the diversity of citizenry. When pursuing the highest goals and quality of life for our beautiful city, both Harrison and Devine roll up their sleeves and go to work: both their records are unprecedented and evince intense devotion to our community. Sometimes a good healthy argument is necessary—even beneficial—when the aim is to protect our community’s quality of life while conserving the environment. Open discussion serves all citizens of Calabasas. How disconcerting that the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation is so inflexible and rigid in their style of questioning. What a novel idea it would be to incorporate into their federation the passionate concerns and creative expression of the 600 residents of Archstone Calabasas and the nearly 700 residents of Malibu Canyon Apartments (both in the Las Virgenes corridor). Homeowners and apartment renters working together for the common enhancement and beautification of our city? My, my, now that would be a change! Both Mayor Harrison and Councilmember Devine courageously show vision for our future! Anthony Pecoraro Calabasas |
