Local ice hockey players take home coveted trophy from Michigan tourney

This past week the West Valley Wolves Mite Division A team took home one of youth ice hockey’s most sought-after trophies—the Silver Stick.

Competing against teams from all over the United States in St. Clair Shores, Mich., the team, made up of a number of players from the Conejo Valley, won the first place trophy against a team from Providence, R.I., 3-2. Only a handful of teams in the history of California have been able to win the coveted Silver Stick.

The team won 7-0 in the first round and 11-1 in the second round.

The six players from the Conejo Valley on the team are Conner Chilton, Trent Dolabson and Tanner Ronn from Oak Park, and Patrick Newell, Michael Sanford and Hunter Stanley from Thousand Oaks.
