X-ray system not the first in Ventura County X-ray system not the first in Ventura County I wish to point out an error in the article that was in your Thousand Oaks edition of Jan. 20 where you identified Los Robles Hospital as being the first center in the county to provide digital X-ray and PACS system to replace film for plain X-rays. Rolling Oaks Radiology, a private physician-owned imaging center adjacent to the Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital, in fact, installed and placed the first computer radiography digital system for plain X-rays integrated with a PACS system into operation in April 2004. It is unique for a small private office to make the same technological investment that Los Robles Hospital did, but it serves to illustrate how committed we are to being on the cutting edge of providing optimum patient care. We are glad that Los Robles Hospital has followed our lead and we wish them well as they roll out this new technology. Thank you for enabling us to identify and correct this error in your report and to alert the community to quality alternatives to providing imaging outside of a hospital environment. Robert Princenthal, MD Thousand Oaks Dr. Princenthal is correct. The story should have said that that Los Robles was the first hospital in Ventura County that offers digital X-rays. |
