Bay Laurel raises more than $7,000 for UNICEF

Last week, Bay Laurel Elementary School organized a fundraising event for three days in which spare change was collected for tsunami relief.

"Change for Good" raised $7,074 with the funds being donated to UNICEF.

It is great when the community comes together and takes the change out of their pockets and makes a difference. Over 460 pounds of change was collected and counted.

Praise should be given to all the children at Bay Laurel Elementary and their parents, especially to the Breindel family, the Gould family, the Harlow family and the Feinberg family. The kids and parents contributed to collecting all the pennies and quarters that you could imagine. This month the project will be turned into a mathematical story problem to see who can quess how many coins were collected of each denomination. Please let the community know about this.
