Activities commemorate American Heart Month Heart health is not just for men. Many people are not aware that over the last 20 years, more women than men have died of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Thousand Oaks Republican Women Federated is marking American Heart Month this February by sponsoring the Red Dress Lunch and Healthy Heart Seminar from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 17 at the Westlake Inn, 32001 Agoura Road, Westlake Village. Brian Theiss, a professional trainer, will speak about the role of exercise in staving off heart disease. Free health screenings will be offered and vendors will display a variety of products and services for the healthy heart. Event organizers will participate in a fashion show featuring a variety of red clothing from Macy’s. The cost is $32 per guest. The event is open to the public and reservations must be made before Mon., Feb. 14 by calling Erin Rodewald at (805) 494-9507. |
