Chabad to dedicate new mikvah Chabad of the Conejo is inviting the public to the dedication ceremony and grand opening of its newly completed mikvah at 11 a.m. Sun., Feb. 6 at Chabad of Oak Park, 5998 Conifer Street. The mikvah, or ritual bath, is an essential component of Jewish life. According to Rabbi Yitzchak Sapochkinsky, "mikvah lies at the heart of the beauty and spirituality of the marital relationship, endowing it with a charming dimension of sanctity and love. For thousands of years, it has been Judaism’s secret to harmonious marital living and Jewish survival." The Mei Menachem Mikvas Devorah has been named for Rabbi Menachem M. Schneersohn and the late Devorah Scharf, whose son and daughter-in-law, David and Gisella Scharf, initiated the project. Other families involved in the installation of the mikvah include Terri and Yossi Koschitzki, Jerome and Felicia Friedland, Gidi and Noga Cohen and Yingy and Gittie Bistritzky. Rabbis Shlomo Bistritzky and Yitzchak Sapochkinsky co-chaired the mikvah project. Guests at the grand dedication will participate in a mikvah tour and affixing mezuzas on the doors. A light buffet will follow. For more information, call (818) 991-0991. |
