Disaster relief well underway

Disaster relief well underway

The Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) has established a Tsunami Relief Fund so local donors can contribute to relief efforts aiding tsunami victims.

The Relief Fund already has a $9,000 challenge grant from the Foundation’s Special and Urgent Needs Fund.

"The magnitude of this natural disaster is breathtaking, and relief efforts will be continuing for many weeks," said VCCF Board Chair Mary Schwabauer. "Our foundation is doing what it can by providing a safe and effective way for members of our community to support the relief efforts."

All contributions made through the VCCF Tsunami Relief Fund will be distributed to support the international relief efforts of the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Direct Relief International.

"We are pleased to be able to provide funds for this truly special and urgent need and welcome contributions from members of the Ventura County communities to extend this effort through these three organizations," Schwabauer said.

VCCF will waive all fees for contributions to these funds and suggests that donations be made prior to Mon., Jan. 24 in order to provide the resources by the end of the month.

Contributions may be made via check by mailing a contribution to VCCF-Tsunami Relief Fund, 1317 Del Norte Road, Ste. 150, Cam-arillo, CA 93010.

Forms for credit card donations are available on VCCF’s website at www.vccf.org.
