New semester at Conejo Jewish Academy

The Conejo Jewish Academy’s winter semester of adult education classes will begin Wed., Jan. 12, offering courses on a wide variety of Judaic subjects.

No affiliation or membership is necessary to enroll in any of the classes. Most classes will be presented on site at the Academy, 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills.

Following is a sampling of some of the classes available.

"Wednesday Lunch ‘n Learn" at 12:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 12. Rabbi Moshe Bryski will focus on one of the most infamous and complex stories of the Bible, "The Golden Calf." There is no fee.

"Men, Women and Kabbalah—Wisdom and Advice from the Masters." Rabbi Yisroel Levine will lead this class viewing gender through the prism of Kabbalah. It will meet at 8 p.m. for eight consecutive Tuesdays beginning Jan. 18. Course fee is $60.

"Biblical Reflections—Finding Yourself in the Stories of Genesis." This course will analyze the stories and characters of the Book of Genesis. Led by Rabbi Bryski, it will meet at 8 p.m. on seven consecutive Wednesdays beginning Jan. 19. Course fee is $36.

"The Talmud—Gateway to Learning." Offered at 8 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 20 at Pizza Nosh, 30313 Canwood St., Agoura Hills. Fee for the six-week class instructed by Rabbi Yitzchak Sapochkinsky is $18.

"Judaic Ethics—Timeless Wisdom for Timely Dilemmas." Rabbi Shlomo Bistritzky leads this eight-week course that examines contemporary issues in light of the Torah and Talmud. Presented at 8 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 20. Fee is $18.
