Las Madrinas Ball raises funds for Childrens Hospital
Ann Marie Boskovich of Westlake Village was among the 36 debutantes honored at the recent Las Madrinas Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The event recognized the debutantes and their families for their commitment to the community and to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Las Madrinas or "The Godmothers" was founded in 1933 to provide financial support to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Donations to Las Madrinas support the hospital and its medical research programs.
In the past decade, Las Madrinas has funded $10 million for its various endowment programs at the hospital.
"Tradition and treasured customs are the legacy of the Las Madrinas Ball," said Melissa Sutton, who handles the organization’s public relations. During the presentation, each debutante, carrying a bouquet of roses, came through an arch before descending stairs. There, she was escorted around the dance floor by her father and made the customary deep curtsy.
The Wayne Foster Orchestra provided musical entertainment. Debutantes, their escorts, parents and grandparents later shared the dance floor.
