New paramedic services come to

Oak Park, Moorpark fire stations

The Ventura County Fire Department has announced that paramedic services will be added to both Moorpark Fire Station 40 and Oak Park Fire Station 36.

The implementation is a result of a new partnership agreement between the fire department and American Medical Response that was negotiated over the last 16 months and approved by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

In addition to allowing the fire department to provide advanced life support services, beginning in January 2007 the fire department will have the ability to perform regional dispatching for all three ambulance providers in the county, thus providing more efficient response times to emergency medical needs.

The new partnership and agreement represents a "great success for Ventura County residents, as it allows us to expand our ALS services, puts a limited number of firefighters through paramedic school, provides faster response times and coordinates all emergency medical service providers," Ventura County Fire Chief Bob Roper said.
