host classes

The Thousand Oaks Teen Center, 1375 E. Janss Road, announces its Winter Program season, beginning the week of Jan. 10. Each class costs between $10 and $40. To register, go to www.crpd.org or call (805) 494-5156 any day after 2 p.m. The following are some of the classes available for teens.

Athletics and games

Coed fencing, girls indoor volleyball, boys’ five-on-five basketball, girls’ five-on-five basketball, billiards, coed yoga, and pool tournaments.

Dance and music

Vocal performing, hip hop, guitar (beginning, intermediate and advanced), drums (beginning and intermediate), salsa and swing dance.

Art and media

Basic drawing and composition, watercolors, stained glass, beginning ceramics, scrapbooking, video production and video editing.

Computers

Beginning keyboarding, website design, computer art and Java.

One-day workshops on-site

CPR, first-aid, babysitting, self-defense and rape prevention and makeovers.

One-day trips off-site

Paintball: at Urban Quest Paintball Field, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wed., Dec. 29. A $5 deposit is required upon registration and $50 is due on the day of the trip. Price includes transportation, supervision, a gun, goggles, face mask, 1,000 rounds of paintballs and a barbeque tri-tip lunch. Proof of medical insurance required.

Snowboarding: at Mountain High for teens ages 12 to 17. There are two different day trips scheduled, both on Conjeo Valley Unified School District holidays: Mon., Jan. 31 and Fri., Feb. 11 from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A $5 deposit is required upon registration and $45 in cash is due the day of the trip. The fee includes transportation, lift ticket and supervision.

Lakers basketball game: At Staples Center from 4 to 11:30 p.m. Fri., Jan 28 for ages 12 to 17. A $5 deposit is required upon registration and $30 cash is due the day of the trip.
