New Scoutmaster named to lead Westlake Village troop

Westlake Village-based Boy Scout Troop 485 has named Gary Case as Scoutmaster. Case will provide direction and leadership to the youth and adult members of the troop. An Eagle Scout since 1976 and Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, Case has been active in Boy Scouts since his youth. He is president of Micro-Tec, a Chatsworth-based manufacturing facility. Case replaces Michael Orton, who has relocated.

"My goal as Scoutmaster is to be sure the youth of our troop have fun in a safe environment, are prepared for all activities, and learn valuable skills that they’ll take with them well into their adult lives," said Case. "In addition, I encourage greater participation from our adults as they have skills and knowledge that each Scout can learn and use." Case will encourage the youth leaders of the troop to plan weeklong adventure outings such as backpacking and kayaking trips.

As a Scout, Case hiked more than 200 miles in the high Sierra, climbed Mount Whitney and participated in civic, educational and outdoor events. He first became active in the troop when his son, Dillon, joined as a Scout in April 2003. Since then Gary Case has played an active leadership role at meetings, events and camps.
