Video arts contest open to high-schoolers Mt. Sierra College, a media arts and design, business and technology college in the San Gabriel Valley, has announced its Southern California Video Arts Contest, a student competition scheduled for this spring. The Video Arts Contest is open to all high school juniors and seniors throughout Southern California, as well as current Mt. Sierra College students. It will give aspiring video producers and media arts aficionados the opportunity to showcase their work to an "esteemed panel of judges from the industry, in addition to savvy media arts professors and their peers." "The Video Arts Contest will allow us to connect with the community, bringing together artistic high school students and our own more seasoned college students as they share in the production-to-presentation experience," said Fred Chyr, vice president of marketing at Mt. Sierra College. "This is an incredibly rare opportunity for students to demonstrate their talent to industry leaders, start building their portfolios and get an insider’s perspective on the high-caliber competition they’ll be facing as college students and beyond in the job market." The judging panel will accept student submissions in February and March and will announce the winners in April. High school students will compete for various scholarships to Mt. Sierra College. Mt. Sierra College students will compete for "coveted industry internships and the opportunity to get their foot in the door in this highly competitive market." Mt. Sierra College’s new media arts theater will host submission finalists. Winning entries will be screened before a live audience in the theater. The guidelines for high school student entries have been posted on the website www.mtsierra.edu/video_arts_contest.php. er |
