Don’t take the joy out of Christmas

Don’t take the joy out of Christmas

As the holidays approach again this year, I hope we can all be understanding and respect each other’s differences. Let’s not become so politically correct that we take the joy out of Christmas. Let’s not forget the beautiful spirit of giving and reaching out to others during this season.

For some of us Christmas has deep religious significance, but it’s more than that. Christmas is part of America, part of her culture and heritage. Christmas has always been a federal holiday. When our forefathers came to settle America, Christmas came with them.

For people around the world, Christmas is a time of sharing, giving and reaching out to others. In America it’s a time of strengthening of families and sharing meals together.

Christmas is a mixture of sacred and secular. Christmas trees, gifts and Santa Claus are not part of the religious part of Christmas but make the season colorful, cheerful and a beautiful time of the year.
