Triunfo to donate Christmas trees

The Triunfo YMCA will continue its tradition of donating Christmas trees to financially disadvantaged families in Conejo Valley/Las Virgenes. Their tree lot is located at the corner of Kanan and Agoura Roads in Agoura Hills.

Last year the Y donated nearly 30 Christmas trees to local families as a result of their "Donate a Christmas Tree through the YMCA" program. Shoppers at the Y’s lot were encouraged to donate funds (in $10, $25 or $50 increments) that would be used to purchase and deliver trees to families who could not afford them. More than $1,000 was donated by tree shoppers who placed their family’s names on the Y’s Tree of Giving.

"The Donate a Christmas Tree Through the YMCA program not only helps to bring joy to deserving families, but it also communicates the Y’s mission to creatively assist local families," said Paul Parzik, executive director of the YMCA. Many of the recipients of the donated trees are beneficiaries of the YMCA’s childcare scholarships.

The Y’s Christmas tree lot is an annual fundraiser supporting the organization’s high school Youth and Government Model Legislature program.

To support the program or for information on volunteering time on the lot, call the Y for details at (818) 707-9622.
