FBI agent to speak in Calabasas

Special Agent Kristine Beardsley, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) coordinator for the Los Angeles office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will be the guest speaker when the Calabasas Emergency Response Program (CERP) hosts its next general meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tues., Dec. 14 at Calabasas City Hall, 26135 Mureau Road, Calabasas. The event is open to the public.

Beardsley will address the FBI’s WMD program and discuss some chemical/biological agents of concern. She’ll also discuss what advance preparations citizens can mak and what volunteers should expect if Los Angeles is attacked.

A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Beardsley was an intelligence officer for seven years after her commissioning. She’s been with the FBI since January 2002 and was previously involved with the FBI’s Counterintelligence Program. As WMD coordinator, she’s a member of the Crisis Response Squad.

CERP is a city-sponsored, all-volunteer group that works to prepare citizens for disasters or emergencies, whether natural or manmade. In addition, CERP participates in the FEMA-sponsored Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), and has one of the largest CERT-trained groups in this area.
