Speaker’s bureau to highlight workforce issues

The Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County (WIB) will relaunch its speaker’s bureau this month to establish new partnerships and generate support for local workforce issues.

A series of presentations made by WIB members and staff will include the findings of three recent studies on the State of the Workforce in Ventura County with an overview of the WIB and its goals for workforce development.

"This road show focuses on the WIB’s role in job creation and training and our goals for influencing policy improvements at the local, state and federal levels," said J. Thomas Van Berkem, chair of the WIB. "It’s an opportunity for us to share what we’ve learned through our research and engage local partners in strategies for change."

Presentations will be made to city councils, chambers, school districts, business and economic development organizations and industry associations throughout the county.

"We hope that by initiating dialogue on these issues with our policymakers and local business community leaders, we can work toward solutions together," said Van Berkem.
