Last chance for Fido to straighten up and fly right

The city of Calabasas Community Services Department will offer a "Wild & Crazy Dog Obedience" class to tame that beast at the end of the leash from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 2 through Nov. 20, at Gates Canyon Park, 25801 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Calabasas.

The class will help pet owners learn how to solve pesky pooch problems and train Fido to actually listen (respect, of course, is optional). Basic obedience commands will be taught: heel, automatic sit, sit-stay, come, down, down stay, and "take a break" (or perhaps to frazzled dog owners it’s "gimme a break").

To participate, dogs must be 4 months or older. Cost of the program is $50, but think of the rewards: doggie treats for Fido, peace of mind for you.
