Committee to discuss area’s future challenges

Group to prepare for budget deficits

In order to cope with unprecedented state and federal deficits, business, civic, education, nonprofit and resident group leaders in the Conejo and Las Virgenes areas will convene this month to seek solutions to the most pressing funding issues the region will face over the next 20 years.

"Financing our region’s future: Planning now to pay for our quality of life in the Conejo-Las Virgenes region" will be the topic covered when the Conejo Las Virgenes Future Foundation (CLVFF) Colloquium meets from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Janet and Ray Scherr Forum of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The forum, keynoted by author and civic leader Bill Fulton and moderated by Tim Gallagher, editor and publisher of the Ventura County Star, is designed to trigger debate and responses on how to meet the many economic, financial and social challenges the area faces.

Notable guest speakers are lined up for the event, sponsored by the nonprofit CLVFF, which expects to develop recommendations to appropriate public, private sector and citizen organization officials to aggressively address the most critical issues faced at the local level.

For reservations or additional information, please call the CLVFF at (818) 880-1054 or e-mail clvff@juno.com.
