CLU to host orientation for incoming freshmen The Student Activities Office at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks will host its new student orientation program from Sat., Aug. 28 through Tues., Aug. 31. CLU is expecting the largest freshman class ever, about 440 students. Also arriving will be more than 170 transfer students and 25 new international students. Undergraduate fall semester classes begin Wed., Sept. 1. New student orientation officially begins with check-in for residential students on Saturday morning near Pederson Residence Hall. The first official session of the day will be the President’s Welcome at 1 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel. New transfer students will arrive on campus on Sunday. An activity during the new student orientation will be the annual painting of the CLU letters on Mount Clef Ridge at 4 p.m. Sunday. This year’s trek up Mount Clef Ridge will be preceded by the Ultimate Peer Group Challenge, with peer groups vying to plan and perform the perfect skit. The "Froshfest" event will be staged from 8:30 to 10 p.m. The Opening Academic Convocation, celebrating the beginning of the new academic year, will be at 10 a.m. Wed., Sept. 1 in Samuelson Chapel.
