Volunteers needed United Way of Ventura County is inviting volunteers to participate in a "Day of Caring" event from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., Sept. 11. All volunteers will receive a "Day of Caring" T-shirt for their participation and are invited to attend a free fiesta breakfast at the United Way, 1317 Del Norte Road in Camarillo. Cisco’s Mexican Restaurant in Camarillo will provide the breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. "Day of Caring" is an event where individuals can volunteer for a day even if they lack the time to make a commitment on a more permanent basis. It will bring together volunteers to help nonprofit agencies with a variety of tasks such as painting, gardening, organizing inventory and general cleaning. Project sites are available throughout Ventura County, and a few projects are also available Sept. 11 to Sept. 17 in recognition of National Civic Participation Week. Opportunities will be available to companies and organizations to promote civic engagement and volunteerism to coincide with the anniversary of Sept. 11. Among available project sites are the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley, Arc Ventura County in Simi Valley, the Wellness Community in Thousand Oaks, the Samaritan Center of Simi Valley, and the Neighborhood for Learning in Moorpark and Simi Valley. For more information, or to sign up as a volunteer, please call United Way of Ventura County at (805) 485-6288, ext. 226, or visit website www.vcunitedway.org and click on Events. |
