Tell cops if you find pot

Law enforcement officers from the U.S. Forest Service, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting recently seized 1,997 marijuana plants in the area of Wheeler Gorge, eight miles north of Ojai off of Highway 33, in Los Padres National Forest.

Upon entering the marijuana plantation, officers found a tent and clothing, but the growers weren’t present, and no arrests have been made. The confiscated marijuana was removed from the area via helicopter and destroyed.

Visitors are asked to call the Forest Service or their nearest law enforcement agency if they should discover a plantation or other suspicious activity while visiting the forest. Visit www.fs.fed.us/r5/lospadres for more information.
