Candidates must possess excellent communication and organization skills, unlimited patience, a keen sense of humor, and be willing to work evenings and weekends. Responsibilities This is a full-time job with no sick leave, vacation or holidays but lots of other priceless benefits. Must be willing to: provide care when your pet is ill or old and loses his housetraining; retrain him to claw on a scratching post and not your couch; find the best advice to keep your family and your pet safe, healthy, and together when you are pregnant or have allergies, when you move, when you marry/divorce/remarry, when you’re unemployed, when you’re ill, incapacitated, or die. Advancement and Wages You’ll be an instant god or goddess in your pet’s eyes, although you must also be willing to be your pet’s servant and provide access to veterinary care, toys, grooming, boarding, pet sitting. None of this will be tax-deductible. No financial compensation will be included, but you’ll receive a lifetime of tail wags, licks and purrs in return. Previous Experience None required, but on-the-job training is offered on a continual basis. The animal shelter is a great place to volunteer and get experience. However, even with none, the shelter professionals will work hard to match you with a pet to suit your needs and lifestyle. They’ll also be available after you adopt to help you solve behavior and training problems. Benefits The job offers limitless opportunities for improved physical and mental health and a lifetime of unconditional love. Chances are, your relationship with your pet will be unlike any other. Caring for companion animals is a major life commitment. Careful consideration is necessary before adding a pet to your family.
