Luncheon to feature GOP speakers

Two noteworthy Republicans are scheduled to speak at an upcoming meeting.
The Women’s Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California annually hosts a fall luncheon. This year’s event will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tues., Sept. 28 at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village.
State Assemblyman Tony Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) and Assembly candidate Heather Peters are scheduled to speak.
Peters is challenging state Assemblywoman Fran Pavley (D-Woodland Hills) in November’s election. Pavley’s 41st District includes Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Encino, Hidden Hills, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Port Hueneme, Oak Park, Santa Monica, Tarzana, Topanga, Woodland Hills and portions of Oxnard and Westlake Village. The speakers are expected to address issues such as education and housing.

Strickland represents the 37th Assembly District (Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and portions of northern L.A. County including Chatsworth, Canoga Park and West Hills).

Luncheon reservations must be made at (818) 773-3724. Seating is limited and early reservations are encouraged. The luncheon will be $45 per person for BIA and Women’s Council members and $50 each for nonmembers. Proceeds will go to the annual Women’s Council scholarship, which is given each year to a student pursuing a career in the building industry.
