Valley Interfaith Council to host a barbecue

The San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council and the Valley Labor Political Education Council are inviting the public to attend the 16th annual Interfaith Labor Day Celebration and family barbecue scheduled for Mon., Sept. 6 at the Northridge United Methodist Church, 9650 Reseda Blvd. in Northridge.

Ed Asner, star of "Lou Grant" and former president of the Screen Actors Guild, has been invited to speak, addressing the topic "California Clean Money Campaign: Reducing the Influence of Big Money in Election Campaigns."

Folksinger Fred Starner will provide special music.

Reservations aren’t required for the complimentary family barbecue which begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m.
