Neil Diamond tribute band to perform at The Canyon Neil Diamond tribute band to perform at The Canyon By Lori Porter porter@theacorn.com Neil Diamond fans have probably already experienced Fantastic Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute band that for the past three years has performed at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, among other venues. But the tribute band’s July 24 performance promises to be extra special. The concert will include the celebration of their first CD with a CD release party. Fantastic Diamond is a live tribute show that takes the audience through a musical journey covering the last 40 years of Diamond’s hits. Assuming the role of Diamond is Kevin Hogan, 33, of Camarillo. He’s an accomplished singer/guitarist by night and a computer software technician by day. Hogan can sound just like Diamond and accurately mimics the moves, the clothes and the stage presence. "I don’t look anything like Neil Diamond and I don’t wear a wig," said Hogan. "But I dress like him and sing exactly the way he does, with my own little twist." Five incredible musicians back up Hogan in Fantastic Diamond. They are Frank Browne on guitar and vocals, Alexandra Caselli on keyboards and vocals, Rich Tyznik, on keyboards, sax and vocals, Anthony Silecchio on bass guitar and vocals and Deiter Weinzetle on drums and percussion. Hogan grew up in Toronto, Canada, and his mother was one of Diamond’s biggest fans. "His records were always playing so I just started imitating him," said Hogan. He used to do a spoof on Diamond’s "Sweet Caroline" while working in another band. When Fantastic Diamond was formed, the experience with "Sweet Caroline" came in handy, according to Hogan. For the past few years, many husbands, sons and daughters have taken their wives and mothers to The Canyon on Mother’s Day to see Fantastic Diamond while enjoying a great lunch. To celebrate the release of their CD, the band decided to liven things up a bit by booking a Saturday night. They’re looking forward to really cranking it up and having a great time. Hogan is married to Kimberly. They have a 2-year-old daughter, Chloe, and just recently became the proud parents of a little boy named Jack.
