Scholarships offered to telecommunication students

Charter Communications and the Southern California Cable and Telecommunications Association (SCCTA) are calling for applications for the SCCTA Scholarship Program to be awarded this spring. For the eighth consecutive year, scholarships will be awarded in increments of $1,000 to $5,000 totaling up to $20,000 to graduating high school seniors of public and private schools in Southern California who wish to pursue a career in the telecommunications industry.

Get application forms in guidance counselors’ offices of local high schools or by visiting the SCCTA Internet Website at www.sccta.org.

Applicants must submit an essay on their plans for a future in cable and telecommunications. Winners will be selected based on essay composition, grade point average, and their willingness to make a positive contribution to their community. Applications must be received by mail no later than 5 p.m. March 19 at the SCCTA office, 1070 E. Orange Grove Ave., Burbank, CA 91501. Scholarship recipients will be notified in May.
