Local areas need outlets for family activities Local areas need outlets for family activities I am truly puzzled by why there aren’t more places for families/children/teens to go in our pro-family community of Agoura. Almost everyone I talk to is aware of this need and can’t understand it either. One of the things we hear about is not wanting "bad influences" coming into our town. The irony of that is when our kids have no place to "hang and have fun," trouble can and does happen to "good kids" in many forms. When I go to Simi Valley, Woodland Hills or Ventura for family-style activities such as bowling, golf, ice skating, I see these places being crowded and people having a good time. Teens are able to spend time in a safe environment that encourages socialization, exercise of sorts and having fun. With local venues, parents also won’t have to worry as much about their teens driving distances late at night. I can envision a multiused facility that could incorporate such activities as a bowling alley, coffee bar, food court, book outlet, nail salon, amateur music night, etc. This could make it desirable for all. I would like to hear from our elected leaders as to why they think that there is a lack of family activities in our beautiful community of Agoura and what can be done to change this. Let’s make something happen. Linda Beck-Kuban Agoura Hills |
