Seniors welcomed to help community

Senior adults are invited to make a difference in the local community by sharing their time, skills and energy to help area residents. Conejo Valley Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is recruiting men and women ages 55 and over to volunteer at a wide variety of local nonprofit agencies.

Among the many opportunities available are the following.

The 50+ Dance Club needs volunteers to help at their dances handing out tickets, filling out membership cards and decorating.

Conejo Free Clinic needs a daytime receptionist, experienced and certificated phlebotomist and other volunteers.

Conejo Players Theatre needs ushers, people who can sew, do set construction and mailing preparation.

Pathways Caring Companions need volunteers to give support to those who are isolated and lonely.

Local nonprofit agencies need volunteers to assist with special events.

Conejo Recreation & Park District Therapeutic Program needs help for people with disabilities as they use various media.

Neighborhood for Learning is looking for volunteers to assist family resource specialists with office work, translate English into Spanish text, work with preschool children ages 3 through 5.

Volunteers are needed to assist staff members with activities like crafts, singing or reading, listening to participants and helping the clerical staff at Senior Concerns Adult Day Center.

Meals on Wheels needs help delivering noontime meals to ill and/or frail adults.

Conejo Valley Botanic Garden needs helpers to plant or prune flora and conduct tours.
