Some people don’t deserve pets

Isn’t it sad dogs can’t choose their masters? I am certain the poor abused cocker spaniel Keith Cornell (Letters, Nov. 20) saw getting slapped and kicked would love a new one.

Dogs are eager to please and to learn, and classes are offered locally in a variety of venues. It is not only for the safety of the dog, but his master as well.

My dog has learned, via classroom instruction, how to sit, stay, wait, crawl, shake, get down, come, go around (this is the one the dog abuser should have used to alert a dog to go around a pole, tree, or whatever is in the way). And any dog can easily learn these commands.

There is no excuse for hitting an animal and such abuse should be reported immediately. The cowardly man in Morrison Ranch does not deserve to have a pet or anyone who he can slap around due to his own stupidity.
