Chabad programs nurture spiritual health

Chabad will offer the following programs in the coming week:

From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on this Sun., Nov. 23, Conejo Jewish Academy will host a women’s workshop titled "Getting into Spiritual Shape" at the Chabad Center, 5998 Conifer St., Oak Park. It will include inspirational lectures, workshops, a luncheon, musical entertainment, dance instruction, yoga and relaxation techniques. The $26 fee includes lunch and all programs. Rabbi Manis Friedman, described as "the internationally beloved and revered counselor and mentor for thousands" will deliver a lecture, "Warning: Religion May be Harmful to Your Health," at 8 p.m. Mon., Nov. 24 at Hilton Garden Inn, 24150 Park Sorrento, Calabasas. The lecture is sponsored by Chabad of Calabasas and the Conejo Jewish Academy.

"In these difficult times, religion is giving every decent human being no rest," said Rabbi Eli Friedman, director of Chabad of Calabasas, "It disturbs our sense of justice and rightness that religion could wreak the turmoil and hatred which dominates the headlines, and this lecture will seek to answer these questions."

Friedman is an author, philosopher and counselor and lectures on personal growth and conscious living through the mystical teachings of The Kabbalah and Hassidut.

Advance tickets are $10, otherwise $12 at the door.
