Firefighters to be honored at Reagan Library

To pay tribute to firefighters, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, in conjunction with the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD), will host a Firefighter Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sun., Nov. 23 at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The following are planned:

Guests may sign the library’s "Thank You Wall," pieces of which will be given to the VCFD, the L.A. County Fire Department, the L.A. City Fire Department, the California Department of Forestry and the Novato Fire Department.

Guests may donate to the Steve Rucker Memorial Fund (the Novato firefighter who died on Oct. 29 while battling the Cedar Fire in San Diego). One hundred percent of the proceeds from every purchase of the "Freedom Above All" Franklin Mint Eagle Porcelain sculpture in the Library Museum Store on Sat. and Sun., Nov. 22 and 23 will be donated.

Hundreds of firefighters will meet guests, who can personally thank the men and women who risked their lives.

All outside activities are free to the public. Regular admission rates ($3 to $5) apply to enter the museum. Firefighters and their families will receive free admission to the museum all day.
