It’s time to crack down on illegal aliens It’s time to crack down on illegal aliens The right to emigrate to the United States is nonexistent. The privilege of entering the United States is dependent firstly on the adherence to the basic principle of, and is coincident with, the security of our nation. Secondly, there is an explicit promise by each immigrant that he or she will abide completely by the laws of the United States, the states and all of the divisions thereof. Thirdly, every adult immigrant must be demonstrably capable of his or her own economic support. To this end he or she must be sponsored by a second individual who will vouchsafe that the immigrant will not become a public charge. In past decades, but to an astonishing degree in recent years, millions of immigrants have arrived in the United States by violating our laws, defying the second premise. An unknown percentage are indigent and wholly in need of public services. Thus they are in conflict with the aforementioned third precept. Worse, within the immigrating melee lies the possibility (and all too soon the probability) of the importation of acts of terror, violence and mass death. Only the citizens of our great nation can avert this impending horror. Examine carefully who amongst our politicians and leaders vote according to the wishes of their largest donors and supporters. Ask who is it that has given the many privileges to the illegal immigrants, the very same privileges that are denied to the uninsured and unschooled citizens of our nation. And ask, too, who pays for these specific privileges for illegal immigrants and their families. Joan R. Starr Agoura Hills |
