Pavley to get award in Washington, D.C. Pavley to get award in Washington, D.C. California State Assemblywoman Fran Pavley (D-Woodland Hills) has been named by Governing magazine as one of its 11 Public Officials of the Year for 2003. The magazine is an independent national publication devoted to coverage of state and local government. Pavley was honored for taking on the issue of greenhouse gas pollution in her freshman term. Her bill, AB-1493, signed into law in 2002, sets in place a process to reduce greenhouse gas pollution from vehicles that generate the largest amount of greenhouse gases in California. "She succeeded in winning enactment of a landmark law despite a multi-million dollar campaign waged against it," said the magazine. The awards will be presented at a dinner event on Thurs., Nov. 13 in Washington, D.C. |
