Finders, Loewe for school board

I look forward to the reelection of Terilyn Finders to the Las Virgenes Unified School Board in November.

I also hope that newcomer Dylan Loewe will be elected

Terilyn Finders is the first board president in the over 30 years I have lived in the district to participate willingly and broadly with the larger community in order to solve problems within and, in part, because of the district. She has actively sought the help of all the cities, private companies, and community organizations for ideas and financial help in solving the district’s budget crisis.

She’s worked diligently and creatively with city council persons, city and district staff, and community members in order to devise workable solutions to some of the most intractable traffic problems surrounding many of our schools. She then graciously thanked all those who helped.

Finders is obviously a leader who is willing and able to draw all parts of the community together for the resolution of vital issues. Leadership is a skill that must be cherished and rewarded since it’s so rare, and reelection of Finders will do that.

Loewe is young, enthusiastic and committed. He’s attended almost every LVUSD board meeting for the last three years and is aware of the issues. He’s willing to work with the larger community in order to solve district problems. Concerned about spending, he wants to reduce the number of costly construction change orders through better initial project planning by introducing experienced community members into the process. He, too, is determined to contribute to solving the traffic problems that plague areas around all our schools. Another, and most needed, skill he brings is professional fundraising experience.

Both Finders and Loewe can work productively with all elements of the district and the community. Both would contribute much-needed fresh viewpoints to the board.
