Kuperberg, Rishoff the best choices

Recently, the Liberty Canyon Homeowners’ Association invited the six Agoura Hills City Council candidates to present their vision for the city at our general meeting. Four candidates, John Edelston, Dan Kuperberg, Sidney Patnode and Steve Rishoff attended.

All candidates expressed a desire to maintain our quality of life; all were concerned with traffic and the Kanan interchange.

However, I was most impressed with the responses of Steve Rishoff and his understanding of development issues and the explanations of Dan Kuperberg regarding the Oak Creek project and the Kanan interchange. These two candidates were well prepared and knowledgeable. I was impressed that Steve was very familiar with the North Area Plan, which will be challenged in the next few months with an attempt by the Sampson Development Company to upzone the property north of the freeway at Liberty Canyon. Dan has actively worked to preserve open space. They will have my votes on Nov. 4.

John Edelston and Sidney Patnode also attended. John has extensive experience in health services. Sidney expressed a preference for no growth. For the record, Alex Soteras and George Christopher Thomas did not respond to our invitation.

Now that our state recall is over, don’t forget to vote in our local election. The candidates you choose for city council may actually have a greater influence on your everyday life. Look beyond the slick mailers and carefully evaluate the candidates. I sincerely believe that Steve and Dan are the best choices.
